Journal ID : AMJ-03-11-2022-10710; Author : R Mohamad Javier, Dani Pratama Febrianto, Novita Apramadha Kartika Sari, Sherly Nurwiyanti Anwar, Gilberta Rebecca, Irma Suswati, Hawin Nurdiana, Djoni Djunaedi,
Abstract : Diarrheal disease continues to be one of the significant public health problems worldwide, with more than 1.5 million deaths each year, most of them in children under 5 years of age. The incidence of diarrheal diseases averages 2-3 episodes per child per year. Excessive use of antibiotics as antidiarrheals is associated with increased bacterial resistance to antibiotics, medical costs, and the incidence of side effects. In past research, it has been found that garlic has a broad antimicrobial spectrum so that it can kill gram-negative and gram-positive bacteria it can be used as an alternative treatment for diarrhea. The purpose of carrying out this study was to describe the potential for garlic extract that affects gram-negative bacteria that cause diarrhea. This natural ingredient can be a safe alternative to treat infectious diseases that cause gram-negative bacterial diarrhea. This research method is a Narrative review (Literature review). In a journal that discusses the effectiveness of garlic as an antimicrobial regarding the antibacterial activity of thiosulfinates using the petri plate diffusion test, the efficacy of the substances cannot be compared with each other because the assumed diffusion rates are different. In the journal on Comparison of the antibacterial activity of thiosulfinates using the petri plate diffusion test, the efficacy of the substances cannot be compared with each other because the assumed diffusion rates are different. The results showed that the MIC and MBC results of each bacteria given garlic extract were different, even though they were both gram-negative. Garlic extract has the highest effectiveness on E. coli bacteria based on in vitro studies conducted, compared to Salmonella, Shigella, V. cholerae bacteria according to the characteristics of these bacteria.

Sexual Behavior and History of Injecting Narcotics Use as Predictors of Toxoplasma gondii Infection in Patients with Human Immunodeficiency Virus Infection
Journal ID : AMJ-03-11-2022-10709; Author : Rizky Fajar Meirawan, Nur Rizky Ramadhani,
Abstract : Sexual behavior is one of the factors thought to be associated with Toxoplasma gondii infection. Several studies have shown that sexual behavior such as oral sex, a history of injuries to the genital organs during sexual intercourse, and working as a sex worker, is associated with Toxoplasma gondii infection. In addition, a history of injecting narcotic use is also associated with Toxoplasma gondii infection. One method to determine infection status is the serological examination through the measurement of immunoglobulin G (IgG). IgG seropositivity is the basis for determining the status of Toxoplasma gondii infection in the chronic or latent phase. This study aims to determine the relationship between sexual behavior and a history of injecting drug use with Toxoplasma gondii infection based on IgG serological status. This study's population was 62 Human Immunodeficiency Virus patients in DKI Jakarta, Bogor Regency and City, and Depok City. In this study, the infection status of Toxoplasma gondii was measured by ELISA method at the Department of Parasitology, Faculty of Medicine, and University of Indonesia. Sexual behavior and history of injection drug use were measured using a questionnaire. The results showed that 43 samples had positive serology status, 18 had negative serology status, and 1 was in the borderline range. Based on the analysis using logistic regression test, age, education, getting paid for having sex, using condoms during oral sex, the habit of swallowing ejaculated fluid during oral sex, history of injuries to the genital organs during sex, and history of injection drug use are factors Risk of Toxoplasma gondii infection.

Prevalence of Sliding Inguinal Hernia in Females Infants and Children
Journal ID : AMJ-03-11-2022-10708; Author : Dr. Habeeb Ali Yaseen, Dr. Haitham Qaddoori Hussein, Dr. Adel Khdair Abbas,
Abstract : Inguinal hernia is the commonest congenital defect found in infancy and child hood, which requires surgical treatment. Surgical literature contains little comment about sliding hernia in females infants and children, that containing the ovary with or without fallopian tube. A retrospective study, in an attempt to establish the real prevalence of the sliding inguinal hernia in female’s infants and children, which contains the ovary with or without fallopian tube, in our experience in Iraq. 639 infants and children underwent surgery for inguinal hernia in the department of pediatric surgery of Al-Kadhmia pediatric hospital, from the first of January 2015 to the end of December 2017. Of those patients, 109 were female infants and girls with age ranging from 21days to 12 years old. A total of 639 patients, infants and children (530 male 82.9% and 109 female17.1%) were included in this study with female to male ratio was (1:4.8). For the (109) females, the age ranged from 21 days to 12 years. The incidence was higher in the right side than left (66% right, 24.8% left, 9.2% bilateral). The highest incidence was during infancy [32 females (29.3%)]. 6 out of 109 patients (5.5%) were underwent emergency surgery for incarceration, all were infants less than one year. About 20.2% (22 out of 109 patients) females were infants less than one year old and they had sliding inguinal hernia and the sac contains ovary with or without fallopian tube, and one of these cases had strangulated gangrenous ovary that need oophorectomy. Only one patient (0.9%) had hydrocele of canal of nuck. In 86 patients out of 109 patients (78.9%), the content of the sac were abdominal and pelvic viscera which reduced before or during anesthesia. All cases are treated surgically under GA by high ligation of the sac. Sliding inguinal hernia in female’s infants and children is not a rare condition. About one fifth of inguinal hernia in female in this age group is sliding hernia containing ovary with high incidence in infants. It may be incarcerated and strangulated and early surgery is preferable to avoid serious complications. We suggest performing many other studies in different centers to validate these facts.

Journal ID : AMJ-02-11-2022-10705; Author : Ricky Rachmano Fitrawan, Wimbo Sasono, Dicky Hermawan, Hartono Kahar, Rachmah Indrawati,
Abstract : Hypothermia perfusion can be used as additional therapy to decrease the inflammation of the anterior chamber due to heat generated by phacoemulsification ultrasonic energy. This research is aimed to evaluate the concentration of Prostaglandin E2 (PGE2) and Interleukin 1β (IL-1β) in aqueous humor after hypothermic perfusion in phacoemulsification. Sixteen New Zealand white rabbits (n=16 eyes) were subjected to phacoemulsification ultrasonic energy with the temperature of perfusion fluid at 400C (treated group) or 2400C (controlled group). Aqueous humor sampling was taken before the phacoemulsification procedure and the first-day post-surgery. Rabbit PGE2 and IL-1β ELISA Kit (Laboratory of Bioassay Technology) was used to examine the levels of PGE2 and IL-1β in aqueous humor. The average levels of PGE2 and IL-1β after the procedure were 464.63 ± 37.87 and 8.93 ± 0.62 pg/ml in the treated group and 490.65 ± 45.19 and 9.56 ± 1.28 pg/ml in the controlled group, respectively. There was no significant difference in the concentration of PGE2 and IL-1β after the treatment between the treated and controlled groups (all p>0.05). The use of hypothermic perfusion has not been shown to reduce anterior chamber inflammation based on PGE2 and IL-1β concentrations in the aqueous humor in the early postoperative phase.

Journal ID : AMJ-02-11-2022-10704; Author : Rahayu Indriasari, Marini Amalia Mansur, Shanti Riskiyani, Muhammad Rachmat,
Abstract : Previous studies demonstrate low awareness of adolescents regarding anemia prevention behavior, therefore innovative nutrition education strategy is important to complement essential nutrition programs for anemia control in adolescents to accelerate their effectiveness. This study aimed to develop an app-based intervention for changing knowledge, attitude, and anemia prevention behavior among adolescent girls with low-to-middle socioeconomic backgrounds. The study will be conducted with a quasi-experimental design, in which one selected high school is assigned as the intervention group and another high school is assigned as the control group. The participants will be recruited randomly from each school, consisting of female adolescents in the first and second grades (aged 14-17 years). The intervention will be delivered in a series of anemia educational materials through a mobile phone application for 12 weeks. The control group will receive educational material electronically after the intervention is terminated in the other group. Pre-test and post-test measurements of knowledge, attitude, and behavior will be undertaken with a self-administered questionnaire. The effect of the intervention will be determined by measuring changes observed after the intervention in each group (paired t-test statistical analysis) and comparing the changes between both groups (independent t-test statistical analysis) with p<0,05 indicating significant results. If the intervention proves to be effective to bring improving the anemia prevention behavior of adolescents, an app-based nutrition education tool will be applicable and enable it to educate larger relevant audiences. The findings of the study can provide useful inputs on supportive program implementation for anemia prevention among adolescents.

Journal ID : AMJ-02-11-2022-10703; Author : Fahad Riyadh Khudhair, Assist. Prof. Dr. Anfal Ali Shakir, Prof. Dr. Hayder Shkhair Obayes Al-Janabi,
Abstract : Cancer refers to diseases where abnormal cells multiply uncontrollably and have the potential to spread to other tissues. Radiotherapy is one type of treatment used to treating patient with cancer, Through DNA damage, radiotherapy causes the death of malignant cells. Many of the antitumor effects of radiotherapy are caused by a direct link between it and the immune system. Radiation therapy has anticancer effects throughout the body in addition to the direct cytotoxicity it has on tumor cells. Study the impact of radiation on the levels of circulating interferon-gamma (IFN-γ), tumor necrosis factor (TNF-α) and CD8+ cytotoxic T cells. 90 women participated in this study, and they were split into three primary groups: Group I: 30 individuals with stage II-stage III invasive breast cancer; Group II: The same 30 patients After Radiotherapy, Group III: 30 healthy women as a control group. After surgery and chemotherapy, all patients in the study got adjuvant radiation. The enzyme-linked immunosorbent test was used to quantify TNF-α, INF-γ, and CD8+ cytotoxic T cells. There was a significant increase occurred in the percent of TNF-α, INF-γ, and CD8+ cytotoxic T cells between Group I patients and Group III control. A significant decrease occurred in the percent of both INF-γ, and CD8+ cytotoxic T cells between Group I patients and Group II patients After Radiotherapy, while no significant changes occurred in the percent of TNF-α between Group I and Group II. The soluble and cellular immune response mediators were altered by radiotherapy following radiation treatment; circulating cytokines in breast cancer patients were assessed. Serum level of INF-γ and CD8+ decreases after radiotherapy while no significant change in TNF- α level.

Optimization of Growth and Development of Infants with Nutritional Status Aged 6-11 Months Through The Application of Infant Massage Based on Sasak Culture (OBISA)
Journal ID : AMJ-02-11-2022-10702; Author : Sudarmi, St.Halimatusyaadiah, Ni Putu Dian Ayu Anggraeni, Sutarmi,
Abstract : Stunting is still a global problem; Indonesia occupies the fifth position with the highest proportion in the province of NTB. The condition of failure to thrive is caused by malnutrition and repeated infections. One of the complementary interventions that have been proven effective in tackling stunting. This study aimed to determine the effectiveness of Orah Bija Sasak (OBISA) infant massage on the growth and development of infants with poor nutritional status aged 6-11 months. The employed research design was quasi-experimental with the pretest-posttest control group design. A total of 54 respondents were divided into three groups of 18 each, consisting of group 1 (OBISA massage & PMT), grade 2 (modified OBISA massage & PMT), and grade 3 (PMT only). Each group was examined for growth with parameters of body weight and length, as well as development using the KPSP format before and after the action. The intervention was carried out for three months, while the data were analyzed using multivariate analysis. The results of the study showed significant differences in all groups, but the Kruskal Wallis analysis showed the highest differences in the modified OBISA group. This difference is possible because OBISA massage is modified using a culture that has been carried out by the community to make it easy to do, adding modifications to modern massage movements that focus on affection for the closeness of mother and baby. It can be concluded that modified OBISA massage effectively increases the growth and development of stunting infants with indicators of increasing BB/PB and KPSP. In order to see the objectivity of the research results, it is necessary to carry out further research using biomarker examination and cultural factor studies.
