Abstract : Coronary artery disease (CAD) occurring in less than 40 years of age is termed as young CAD. Recent studies show a prevalence of 1.2% of CAD cases in this age group. the present study was undertaken for assessing the profile of CAD in young patients. A total 50 patients of CAD in young patients [age < or = 40 years] were study who were a mix of urban and rural population. Mean age of the patient in our study was 34.6 years. About 62% of our patients reported to have a BMI more than 25 kg/m2. In our study 62% of our patients were smokers, 22% were alcoholics and 12 % were tobacco addict. 40% of the patients were diabetics, 20% were hypertensive and remaining 22 % of them had a family history of ischemic heart disease. 96 % of the patients presented with CCS class 4 symptoms. On ECG anterior wall MI was the commonest 64%. Out of all the ACS patients 80 % had STEMI, 20% had NSTEMI and 20% had Unstable Angina. On ECG anterior wall MI was the commonest 64%. Single vessel disease was seen in 34 numbers of patients. [68%]. Single vessel disease [LAD] was the commonest in our study.
