Abstract : Leptospirosis, which is caused by Leptospira sp., is a zoonotic bacterial disease that is important for human and animal health, spreads globally and has the potential to become an epidemic that occurs mainly in countries with tropical climates and high rainfall. In Indonesia, the incidence of leptospirosis is quite high compared to cases of leptospirosis fatality rates range from 2.5 to 16.45%. Wajo District is a flood-prone area that has high rainfall, so it is very at risk of leptospirosis. The purpose of the study was to determine how environmental health education interventions affected public motivation and awareness of Leptospirosis in Wajo District, South Sulawesi Province's flood-prone districts. This study used a quasi design experiment with pre - test and post-test group approaches. The population in this study is the people of Mattirotappareng Village and Laelo Village, Tempe District, Wajo Regency. Sampling used purposive sampling criteria and was calculated using the Lemeshow formula which was then divided into the intervention group and the control group. The sample used was 96 respondents consisting of 48 respondents for each intervention group and the control group with an additional reserve of 10% so that the sample for each group was 53 respondents. The research instrument uses a validated questionnaire, the data that has been collected is then analyzed using a comparative test. According to the results of Wilcoxon test hypothesis testing, only the control group showed significant differences in the awareness aspect; however, for the motivational component, both the intervention group and the control group showed significant differences both before and after treatment. Educating people about environmental health will help them become more motivated and aware of the need to prevent Leptospirosis. The results of the study show that public awareness only increased in the Mattirotappareng Village. In contrast to motivation, there has been an increase in the community in the Mattirotappareng and Laelo Villages.
