Journal ID : AMJ-26-12-2022-10970; Author : Karmenita Christina, Indri Ngesti Rahayu, Ni Komang Sri Dewi Untari, Intan Komalasari,
Abstract : A new pandemic afflicts the entire world. The highly contagious severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) virus originated in Wuhan, China in late 2019 and rapidly spread across the entire globe. Patients with coronavirus disease-19 (COVID-19) disease present with a wide array of symptoms, ranging from mild complaints such as low oxygen levels to life threatening pulmonary and cardiac complications. New therapeutic interventions to treat COVID-19 symptoms include hyperbaric oxygen therapy (HBOT). HBOT involves breathing under 100% oxygen pressure to increase plasma and tissue oxygen levels. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of HBOT on oxygen saturation of COVID-19 patients. This study uses a descriptive research design with literature review from at least 10 national journal articles indexed by SINTA and international journals indexed by Scimago with 2016 to 2021 limitations. Based on 11 international journals indexed by Scimago, HBOT allows a significant increase of the oxygen saturation of COVID-19 patients. HBOT has the effect of correcting tissue hypoxia, chronic hypoxemia and helps in other symptoms of COVID-19 resulting in improvement in COVID-19 patients who are given HBOT.

Journal ID : AMJ-26-12-2022-10969; Author : I Gusti Ngurah Made Suwarba, Kirana Dyah Larasati Budhiarta, I Ketut Suarta, I Gusti Ayu Trisna Windiani, Ida Bagus Subanada, I Made Gede Dwi Lingga Utama,
Abstract : Acute encephalitis syndrome (AES) is a global health problem. Globally, the incidence found in 10.5 per 100.000. In a study in India, the most common age for AES cases was 1 to 7 years. Children with AES have a tendency to experience bad outcomes both disability and even death. In AES, diffuse brain edema occurs which causes disturbance of consciousness. The Glasgow Coma Scale (GCS) is the instrument of choice for assessing a person's level of consciousness and is widely associated with children's outcomes with AES especially in health care center with limited resources. This cross-sectional study, subjects were children treated with AES that were treated in Sanglah hospital in January 2018 to December 2019. Chi-square test was performed to assess categorical data. Followed by logistic regression multivariate analysis with backward method. A total of 142 subjects were analysed for their GCS score and the outcomes in this study. The results of multivariate analysis showed GCS values were associated with outcomes of children with AES [OR = 2.756, 95% CI 1.201 to 6.323, P 0.017]. Seizure status have a statistically significant relationship with the outcomes of children with AES [OR = 0.332, 95% CI 0.142 to 0.773, P 0.011]. Low GCS score is a risk factor of death in children with AES.

Journal ID : AMJ-25-12-2022-10967; Author : Sawsan Mohammed Al Blewi,
Abstract : Sickle cell anemia is a chronic, inherited hemoglobinopathy disease that has a high morbidity and mortality. Zinc has a crucial role in immunity and growth, which are affected in these patients. This review evaluated the zinc level in sickle cell anemia patients. Cochrane Library, PubMed, Medline, and Google Scholar were searched and limited to the period from January 2012 to December 2022. The keywords "zinc levels," "sickle cell disease," "serum zinc," "sickle cell anemia," and "urinary zinc" were used. Out of the 353 studies, 76 full texts were screened, and only thirteen studies were included in the final analysis. The author's name, year of publication, patient's number, and study duration were collected and entered in an excel sheet. The RevMan system for meta-analysis was used, and the data were all continuous. The random effect was used due to the significant heterogeneity. Funnel plots were used to assess lateralization. A P-value of <0.05 was considered significant. The studies included 1513 patients and control subjects. In case-control studies, zinc levels were lower in patients with sickle cell disease; the odd ratio was -10.88, the 95% CI was -16.27—5.49, and the P-value for the overall effect was 0.0001. The cross-sectional studies showed the same, odd ratio, -22.07, 95% CI, -30.15—13.99, and the P-value for the overall effect, <0.0001. This review showed that the zinc level is low in sickle cell anemia patients compared to normal children, which has a negative impact on the disease. Randomized control studies are needed.

Journal ID : AMJ-24-12-2022-10965; Author : Morgana Quteifani,
Abstract : The work aims to compare the influence of irrigation solution MTAD when activated by laser and without activation on the root dentin micro-hardness (MH). Thirty root samples were prepared into two equal halves for dentin MH measurements. The sixty root halves were subdivided equally into three groups (twenty samples each) according to the utilized irrigation solution: MTAD activated by laser, MTAD non-activated by laser and deionized water (control group). Samples from each group were used for dentin MH determination at baseline determination and next to treating to evaluate the variation in MH. Data were analyzed by one-way ANOVA and student's t-test for MH. MTAD non-activated by laser displayed the highest significant lowering in dentin MH (P<0.5). The values of the MH of radicular dentin were higher when MTAD activated by laser used. The results revealed that MTAD activated by laser was the most efficient treatment. Further clinical tests are necessary for establishment of the efficiency, safety and biocompatibility of this treatment prior to be utilized normally in vivo.

Abstract : Milk and cheese contamination with harmful bacteria is more common particularly those made from raw or inadequately pasteurized milk, have been implicated in the transfer of many foodborne diseases to humans. Pathogens enter raw milk from a variety of sources, salmonella is the most prevalent pathogenic bacterium that causes salmonellosis in people and animals. salmonella serovars produce the illness, which can show as anything from mild food poisoning to severe enteric fever. In recent years, extensive research into the antibacterial effects of essential oils and extracts has been conducted, revealing their potency and potential to inhibit the growth of a wide range of hazardous microbes. Fifty (50) samples of raw cow milk and soft white cheese randomly collected from different local market and bulk farm between (February 2021 - May 15, 2022), from the different Area of Baghdad city. Milk and cheese are significant sources of salmonella, particularly for those who prefer raw milk. the prevalence of salmonella was (20% of 50) among different types of samples. We conclude that Myrtus communis essential oil possesses antimicrobial properties against the three tested strains: salmonella typhimurium, salmonella enteritidis and salmonella infantis. Raw milk and soft white cheese act as a wide source of contamination with pathogen, and we consider Myrtus communis oil act as antibacterial action.
