Brief Cognitive Behavioral Therapy Among Methamphetamine Users in Semarang Prison, Indonesia
Journal ID : AMJ-04-12-2022-10877; Author : Indra Dwi Purnomo, Rosnah Ismail, Riza Sarasvita,
Abstract : The study aims to assess the effectiveness of Brief Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (BCBT) treatment on methamphetamine users on the severity of dependency on methamphetamines and to determine the intensity of desire for methamphetamines in a sample of Semarang prison inmates of Indonesia. This study applied a quantitative research method with a quasi-experimental design. The experimental group received BCBT treatment for 4 sessions, while the control group received health education for 4 sessions. All data were analyzed using Mann-Whitney and Wilcoxon by IBM SPSS seri 26.0 for windows. The results of the final treatment, when viewed from the post-test using the SDS (Severity of Dependence Scale) and Brief Craving scale, showed a decrease in craving in the experimental group and no change in dependence, but in the control group, there was an increase in feelings of addiction and dependence on methamphetamine. BCBT was successful in helping PWUD stop using methamphetamine. They understood that busy activities carried out in daily activities could help become a diversion if the feeling of wanting to use methamphetamine arose. In addition, subjects who have received sessions from the counselor commit themselves to no longer using shabu.

Umbilical Cord-Mesenchymal Stromal Cells (UC-MSCs) Therapy in COVID-19 Patients with Severe Inflammatory Immune Response: A Case Report
Journal ID : AMJ-04-12-2022-10876; Author : Pompini Agustina Sitompul, Nina Mariana, Surya Oto Wijaya, Rumaisha Satyawati, Adria Rusli, Titi Sundari, Rosamarlina Rosamarlina, Faisal Rizal Matondang, Haruyuki Dewi Faisal, Vivi Setiawaty, Mohammad Syahril,
Abstract : A 71-year-old woman was admitted to the hospital on 7 July 2020 diagnosed with critically ill COVID-19 disease on a ventilator. The symptoms started three days before; fever, fatigue, and shortness of breath. She had a history of hypertension and diabetes mellitus. Blood test showed signs of severe inflammatory immune response and critical of clinical course. An intervention of Umbilical Cord Mesenchymal stem cells (UC-MSCs) therapy was planned as an add-on therapy. Evaluation was conducted by clinical presentation, blood drawing and radiography examination. We highlight that the patient showed promising clinical, laboratory, and radiological improvement after therapy. However, we cannot conclude whether the improvement is caused by UC-MSCs therapy itself since it is only a single case report and an old case report that the Covid-19 vaccinations are not already available at that time. Therefore, further studies were needed to investigate this result.

Psychometric Tests of the Indonesian Version of Self-Efficacy of Sleep Hygiene Inventory-Revised
Journal ID : AMJ-04-12-2022-10875; Author : Dhiana Novitasari, Fitri Haryanti, Sri Hartini,
Abstract : This study examined the content and construct validity, internal consistency reliability, and test-retest of the Indonesian version of the Self-Efficacy of Sleep Hygiene Inventory-Revised (SESHI-R) instrument. This quantitative study was conducted with psychometric tests using a cross-sectional design. The cultural translation and adaptation were conducted through the stages of forward translation, synthesis, backward translation, expert review, pilot testing, and validity and reliability tests. The content validity was measured using Aiken’s V. The construct validity was measured using Pearson Product Moment and factor analysis. The internal consistency reliability was measured using Cronbach’s alpha, and the test-retest used paired t-test. The content validity test showed an Aiken’s value of 0.75 to 1. The construct validity test proved that all items were valid. The factor analysis gave 18 valid items (factor loading >0.5) with 6 factors formed (Eigen value >1). The internal consistency reliability test showed a Cronbach’s alpha value of 0.894 (>0.7). The test-retest had a value of 0.747. This study showed the Indonesian version of SESHI-R has good content validity, construct validity, internal consistency reliability, and acceptable test-retest. Therefore, it can be used to assess the self-efficacy of sleep hygiene behavior among adolescents from 15 to 19 years old in Indonesia.

Abstract : The present study aimed to evaluate the metabolic, biochemical and genetic alteration associated with the consumption of classical (CKD) and modified ketogenic (MKD) diet in metabolic syndrome rats. Sixty healthy adult male albino rats divided into six groups 10 rats each as follow: Group (1): Healthy rats fed on a standard balanced diet for 6 weeks. Group (2): Healthy rats fed on a classic ketogenic diet for 6 weeks. Group (3): Healthy rats fed on Modified ketogenic diet for 6 weeks. Group (4): Metabolic syndrome induced rats fed on a standard balanced diet for 6 weeks. Group (5): Metabolic syndrome induced rats fed on a classic ketogenic diet for 6 weeks. Group (6): Metabolic syndrome induced rats fed on Modified ketogenic diet for 6 weeks. Metabolic syndrome induced rats consumed classical or modified Atkins diet showed amelioration in the levels of blood glucose, insulin and hemoglobin A1C. Also, the two types of ketogenic diet reduced the levels of MDA and oxidized-LDL in the metabolic syndrome rats with an increase in SOD activity. Classical ketogenic diet or modified ketogenic diet caused a significant (p≤0.05) decrease in β-hydroxybutyrate dehydrogenase (BHPD) and uncoupling protein (UCP-1) with a decrease in peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor (PPAR-α) genes expression compared to metabolic syndrome group. Also, there was a significant (p≤0.05) elevation in acetoacetate (AA), B-hydroxy butyrate, (BHB) and HMG-COA-Synthase 2 with a decrease in Carnitine Palmitoyl Transferase (CPT) compared to metabolic syndrome group. Based on our results ketogenic diet has promising effect in ameliorating metabolic and biochemical alterations associated metabolic syndrome.

Decellularized Bovine Pericardium for Post-Pericardiotomy Adhesion Prevention: a Literature Review
Journal ID : AMJ-03-12-2022-10871; Author : Edwin Yosef Widjaja, Heroe Soebroto, Yudi Her Oktaviono,
Abstract : Post-operative pericardial adhesion remains a serious cardiac surgery complication leading to higher morbidity and mortality. Fibrous adhesions can destroy tissue planes and disturb the adjacent vasculature structure, prolonged of surgical time, and increased medical costs. While animal-based models are essential for studying the prevention of post-operative pericardial adhesions, several yet limited animal model and clinical human intervention to evaluate the role of bovine pericardium (BP), especially decellularized patch, has been established. In order to address these unstructured evidences, a literature review in regard to post-operative pericardial adhesions was conducted. Three main databases of PubMed, Google Scholar, and ScienceDirect with advance search method using Boolean Logic “AND” of selected keywords were employed. Out of 7 articles that met our review criteria, all of them present that BP showed potential significant role to prevent adhesion. Furthermore its elasticity, handling characteristics, and the lower risk of endocarditis. Thus, BP can reduce the fibrosis and focal inflammation during post-surgical healing process of the pericardium with the average optimum outcome within 2 weeks, with the shortest time being 10 days and the longest being 12 months. Decellularized bovine pericardium has the ability to speed up tissue regeneration and angiogenesis within implanted pericardial substitute. This quality may accelerate the bovine pericardium inner surface remesothelialization and eventually prevent pericardial adhesions to the adjacent epicardium.

Factors Affecting Vitamin D Levels In Sepsis And Septic Shock
Journal ID : AMJ-03-12-2022-10869; Author : Nur Fatma, Satriawan Abadi, Sudirman Katu, Syakib Bakri, Haerani Rasyid, Rahmawati Minhajat, Arifin Seweng,
Abstract : Sepsis is a major health problem with an increasing number of incidences. Infection will trigger a more complex, varied, and prolonged host response, where pro-inflammatory and anti-inflammatory mechanisms contribute to clearance of infection and tissue recovery, but may also lead to organ dysfunction and secondary infection. Various recent studies have shown the relationship between vitamin D and sepsis. Vitamin D acts as a stimulator of antimicrobial peptide production and prevents excessive inflammation. Therefore, vitamin D insufficiency and deficiency are associated with the risk of sepsis. This cross-sectional study involved 29 subjects with sepsis and 23 subjects with septic shock. Serum vitamin D levels were measured using the ELISA (enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay) method with results in ng/ml. Vitamin D levels were found to be lower in sepsis than in septic shock (p=0.119) but not statistically significant. Vitamin D levels were also lower in the elderly (> 60 years) compared to < 60 years subjects, but not statistically significant (p=0.837). Furthermore, vitamin D levels were significantly lower in female patients than male patients (p=0.01). In addition, vitamin D levels were significantly lower in patients with comorbidities in both males and females than in patients without comorbidities. Vitamin D levels are not related to the severity of sepsis but are influenced by age, sex, and comorbidity factors.
