Effectiveness of an Educational Program on Nurses Knowledge towards Vitamin D3 and calcium for Cancer Patients

Abstract : Malnutrition was a severe and widespread concern among cancer patients. It had a detrimental impact on their prognosis and quality of life. According to studies, 15 percent to 40percent of cancer patients lost weight while undergoing therapy. In individuals with advanced cancer, this number could rise to as high as 85 percent. As a result, early treatment and health education on dietary supplement and behaviors might help patients achieve better outcomes and avoid issues. Of this study were to Assess the Nurses Knowledge toward vitamin d3 and calcium need for patients with Cancer at oncology center in AL-Diwaniyah Governorate. and To Find out the Association Between Certain demographical data and Participation in Training Course with Oncology Nurses' Knowledge. A quasi experimental study design is conducted at Al-Diwaniyah Specialized Oncology Center, from 17th March 2021 to 15th May 2022. For the aim of the study, the researcher created the program and instrument. A non-probability purposive sampling had been consisted of (60) oncologic nurses have been chosen to obtained represent and accurate data. The sample size is (60) nurses, split into two groups, one of which includes of (30) nurses as the study group and the other of which consists of (30) nurses as the control groups. The study groups taking the educational programs that deals with Vitamin D3 and calcium that necessary and recommended for cancer Patients (vit. D3 and ca++) of cancer patients, the control group, on the other hand, has not been subjected to the instructional programs. To obtain data from study participant, the researcher employed the following tool: First part is the socio-demographic variables and second the Nurses knowledge related to The Vitamin D3 and calcium that necessary and recommended for cancer Patients (vit. D3 and ca++). The study instrument's validity was assessed by a group of experts, and its reliability was assessed using the internal consistency approach. To determine the difference between the study the control groups, descriptive analysis and analytical inferential analysis were performed. The study's findings revealed that there is very significant difference in between study group's (pretest and posttests) in terms of (nurse's knowledge of vitamin d3 and calcium of people with cancer), (MEAN ± SD= 2.37±0.451) comparing to the pretest score (MEAN ± SD=1.58±0.402) due to effectiveness of an educational programs. Finally, the study finds that an education program focusing on food for vitamin d3 and calcium of people with cancer has a high chance of success. Training health and medical through continuing nursing and medical education (on job training) of all health care providers including nurses who have a major role in raising the level of patient's awareness about the nutrition and importance of having optimum level of this vitamin D and Ca++, explaining the signs and symptoms of vitamin D and Ca.

Impact of Unconscious Patients Communication Educational Sessions on the Intensive Care Nurses Unit Knowledge in Al- Hilla City

Abstract : The critical care unit is consider one of the most important area in the hospitals, since it receives patients with severe and complicated conditions. In these units, attentive and consistent supply of caring behaviors is essential. Continuous monitoring and caring, good communication with patients and their families, supporting and encouraging patients' engagement in treatment decision-making are all vital roles for critical care unit nurses to perform (Zare, et. al., 2020). To evaluation the impact of communication educational sessions on the intensive care nurses knowledge. A quantitative quasi-experimental design study to achieve the study objectives which directed to evaluate the impact of Communication Educational Program on the Intensive Care Unit Nurses Knowledge started from 9 January to 20 June 2022. The research conduct at the intensive care units at Al- Hilla Teaching Hospital and Imam Al- Sadeq teaching hospital. Purposive non- probability sample methods select which consisted of (63) nurses divided as (30) nurses for interventional group, and (33) nurses for control group specific questionnaire prepared to collect the data. Most of participants 16(48.5%) and 19(63.3%) in both group (control and interventional) were between age group(24-26) years, 18(54.5%), 19(63.3%) were male, most of them bachelor holder 22(66.7%) and 18(60.0%), when most of the demographical characteristics matched among the study group it mean the equivalence of the group. the pretest of both study group recorded unsatisfied level of knowledge related to basic communication principles with the unconscious patients as (1.49 ± 0.206), (1.49 ± 0.175). During the post test the control group shows the same poor level clearly, while the nurses who attend the educational program session recorded significant improvement in their two posttest as(1.79± 0.158) and (1.71± 0.176). Most of the control group member have (2-5) years of experience in the critical care unit, where in the interventional group members were within one year. Most of the participant in the both group recorded unsatisfied level of knowledge in pretest regarding to all communication domains. While significant differences found among interventional group members through the first and second post- test, the content of the education program act as a positive factor to improve the knowledge.

Effectiveness of Communication Skills for Patients Undergoing Mechanical Ventilation Educational Program on the Intensive Care Unit Nurses Knowledge in Al- Hilla City, Iraq

Abstract : Communication serves as the foundation for the connection between a nurse and patient and is a crucial component of trust and comfort. Nurses working in the critical care units (CCU) face especial challenges when communicate with unconscious ill, mechanically ventilated or sedated patients. Communication between these patients and nurses needs specific skill of commitment, and knowledge. To evaluate the intensive care unit nurses knowledge related to educational program constricted for communication with patients undergoing mechanical ventilation as a nursing competence. A quantitative study quasi-experimental design was used with the application of pre, and posttest to achieve the study objectives which directed to evaluate the Effectiveness of Patient Communication Skills for Patients Undergoing Mechanical Ventilation Educational Program on the Intensive Care Unit Nurses Knowledge started from 9 January to 27 May 2022. The study conduct at the intensive care units at Al- Hilla Teaching Hospital (Al- Hilla teaching hospital and Imam Al- Sadeq teaching hospital). Purposive non- probability sample methods used to select the sample of the study to achieve the study objectives. The study sample consisted of (63) nurses divided as (30) nurses for interventional group, and (33) nurses for control group specific questionnaire prepared to collect the data by interview method. Most of participants 16(48.5%) and 19(63.3%) in both group (control and interventional) were between age group(24-26) years, 18(54.5%), 19(63.3%) were male, most of them were bachelor holder 22(66.7%) and 18(60.0%). Related to their marital status 17(51.5%) in the control group were married, while 17(56.7%)in the interventional group were single, when most of the demographical characteristics matched among the study group it mean the equivalence of the group. The pretest of both study group recorded unsatisfied level of knowledge related to communication with patients under artificial ventilation as (1.26 _+ 0.181), (1.30 _+ 0.197). During the posttest the control group shows the same poor level clearly, while the nurses who attend the educational program session recorded significant improvement in their two posttest as(1.76_+0.206) and (1.74_+ 0.216). This indicated the effectiveness of the content which presented in the educational program related to this issue. Significant improvement appear clearly among the interventional group member through the result of their pre and posttest, which explain the effectiveness of the educational program session content on the nurses knowledge. Training the nurses who work in intensive care unit about the communication with patient under mechanical ventilation.

Impact of Pulmonary Care Educational Program on Nurses Perception related to COVID 19 Patients in Al – Hillah teaching hospitals

Abstract : Intensive care unit nursing is an occupation that involves specialized knowledge and abilities applicable to a range working in the intensive care units which may effected by nurses perception. To assess the impact of pulmonary care educational program on nurse's perception related to COVID 19 patients. A quasi-experimental design selected as suitable method to evaluate the impact of pulmonary care educational program on nurses perception related to COVID 19 patients during the period of 3ed January 2022 to 26th February-2022. The study conducted at the critical care units which distributed at Al-Hillah Teaching Hospitals. Non-probability (purposive) sample methods selected, the original sample were divided to two groups, the first one is control group consist of (30) nurses, while the remaining number (32) assigned as interventional group member. Most of participants in both groups 15 (48.4%), 15 (50%) were between (24-26) years age group, 19 (61.3%), 15 (50%) were male, 16 (51.6%) were diploma degree in interventional group, while 20 (66.7%) were bachelor degree in the control group, simple significant change is presented in the following two Post-test (3.65 ± 0.423), (3.73 ± 0.564) with agree assessment for interventional group about nurse's perception from coronavirus disease 19. Significant changing related to perception in interventional group between pretest, posttest 1 and posttest 2 with agree assessment. While there is no change in mean of score among control group.

Evaluation of Educational Program toward COVID 19 Patients Oxygen Therapy on Nurses Knowledge in Al-Hillah City

Abstract : Respiratory system plays a crucial role in sustaining important physical functions; thus, the control of the respiratory system is the first aspect in good intensive care unit patient care. Respiratory care consists of preserving the patency of the airways, oxygen treatment, respiratory monitoring, dental care, and care linked to preventing ventilator-associated infections. To evaluate the knowledge of critical care nurses toward educational program focus on oxygen therapy for coronavirus disease 19. A quasi-experimental design selected as suitable method to evaluate of effectiveness educational program toward COVID 19 patient's oxygen therapy on nurse's knowledge during the period of 3ed January 2022 to 26th February-2022. The study conducted at the critical care units which distributed at Al-Hillah Teaching Hospitals. Non-probability (purposive) sample selected, the original sample were divided to two groups, the first one is control group consist of (30) nurses, while the remining number (32) assigned as interventional group member. Proper questionnaire prepared for data collection. Most of participants in both groups 15 (48.4%), 15 (50%) were between (24-26) years age group, 19 (61.3%), 15 (50%) were male, 16 (51.6%) were diploma degree holder in interventional group, while 20 (66.7%) were bachelor degree in the control group, significant improvement in nurse's knowledge regarding oxygen supplement after their attendance to the educational program session, while the results shows no significant change for control group is presented in the following two post-test. Significant differences of interventional group between their pretest and two posttest recording for the nursing knowledge regarding oxygen therapy for coronavirus disease 19 patients, while no significant differences recorded among control group members.

Obesity Animal Models : Diet Sandard, High Fat and Modification Diet Induced Obesity

Abstract : Many researches about obesity are to use experimental animal model by providing various diets with various types and compositions to obtain models of obese animal. The aim of the study was to induce animal model obesity, with the standard diet, high fat diet and high fat diet modified. This study used 18 white rats of the Wistar strain, divided three groups, and fed for nine weeks. Before feeding, all rats were measured their body weight, abdominal circumference, and body length. We measured body weight every week, while body length and waist circumference were measured every two weeks. After nine weeks of diet, all rats were subjected to injection of Ketamine and examined for metabolic markers. There was a continuous increase in body weight in the three groups of rats. Still, there was no significant difference in weight gain in the three groups of rats (p>0.05). There was a significant increase in body length and abdominal circumference in the standard and rat groups with a modified high-fat diet (p<0.05), the laboratory examination showed that there were no significant differences in blood glucose and creatinine levels in the three groups but there were significant differences in cholesterol, urea levels in the standard and high-fat diet groups (p<0.05). Giving an excellent standard diet, a high-fat diet, and a modified high-fat diet for nine weeks can result in a continuous increase in body weight by providing significantly different anthropometric examination values on body and abdominal length examinations as well as laboratory results that show differences in neutrophil values, cholesterol, and urea in the three sample groups. It is still necessary to do further research on this obese animal model regarding the content of the diet given and the period of the diet.

Beliefs and Attitudes among primary School Teachers towards Epilepsy in Children in Kirkuk City

Abstract : Epilepsy is considered the second most prevalent central nervous system condition; affecting 65 million people globally. Teachers' epilepsy attitude, knowledge, and beliefs were found to have an instant influence on learning outcomes among epileptic students, development of social skills, also making friends. The aims of this study are to assess beliefs and attitudes among primary school teachers toward epilepsy in children; in addition, to identify the relationship between the teachers’ beliefs & attitudes and their some demographical characteristics such as (age, gender, educational level, and years' experience). A descriptive study has been carried out at primary schools for teachers in Kirkuk city from the period 24th October 2020 to 30th May 2022. A non-probability “Purposive-Convenience sample” had been consisted of (40) primary schools teachers. The instruments of the study consists from four parts; Assessment of the subject’s characteristics that include (8) items; General information of teacher regarding epilepsy: This part consists of (3) items; Specific information of teacher regarding epilepsy: This part consists of (6) items; and Adult Version of the Epilepsy Beliefs and Attitudes Scale (EBAS) was developed to assess teachers' beliefs and attitudes regarding epileptic children which include (42) items. The data are collected through the (self-administered) interview with the study sample. Data were analyzed by using the Statistical Package for the Social Sciences (SPSS) version (22). The descriptive statistical measures (Frequency, Percentage, & Mean), the inferential statistics (Chi-square, t. test and Analysis of Covariance (ANCOVA) were applied. The majority of the studied group according to age group is between (40-49 years), most of them were female, graduation from teachers preparing institution, most of them were married, and having more than 16 years of experience as a school teacher, and most of them were from urban residency. All of them hadn't any participated previously in a training course about epilepsy. According to the study's findings, the most of primary school teachers hold negative attitudes and beliefs toward epilepsy in children; and there was no significant relationship between teachers' beliefs and attitudes toward children with epilepsy and socio-demographic characteristics were chosen. The study recommends a comparative study should be design in urban and rural areas on beliefs and attitudes of primary school teachers concerning epilepsy in children.

Assessment of Primary School Teachers' Attitudes Regarding School Violence

Abstract : School-based violence is one of the most visible forms of violence against children. School violence is pervasive, affecting a sizable proportion of adolescents and children in every country. It is mainly done by peers, on other hand teachers and other school personnel may also commit it. The aim of present study is to assess the attitudes of primary school teachers toward school violence and find out the relationship between teachers' attitudes with regard to demographic characteristics. A descriptive design was implemented through the current study with to assess the attitudes of primary school teachers toward school violence from September 15, 2020 to May 10, 2022. The researcher created an attitudes that includes (18) items to reach the study objectives. A purposeful, non-probability sample of (80) primary teachers was selected so that the data are representative and accurate. The sample size (80) teachers divided into two groups. The selected teachers were equally distributed to two groups (study and control) (40) participants per group. The results of the study showed that the study and control groups had negative attitudes toward school violence. Demographic characteristic including: Age, marital status, and educational level affected their attitudes toward school violence. Study and control groups had negative attitudes toward school violence due to lack of experiences to deal with this specific critical situation.
