Abstract :
A cross-sectional study was conducted at the Medical city / out-patient department of Baghdad teaching Hospital/infertility center/gynecology out-patient clinic / Endocrine and DM clinic from the 2nd of January to the end of 31th of May 2022.A total of 139 women were included in the study. All women in the studied sample were of the reproductive age group with a mean age of (28.9 ± 6.3) years. Of the total, 121 (87.1%) and 18 (12.9%) were married and unmarried (single), respectively. Ninety-nine of women (66.9%) were complaining of menstrual irregularities mainly oligomenorrhea (82.8%). Sixty-seven (48.2%) women with PCOS had primary infertility and 52 (37.4%) had secondary infertility. Hirsutism was noticed in 82 women (59.0%) acne and alopecia were complaints of 14 (10.1%) for each. In women with and without hirsutism, waist circumferences were 100.5 ± 15.6 cm and 93.3 ± 11.5 cm, respectively. The LH/FSH ratio in women with and without hirsutism were 1.3 ± 0.8 and 1.3± 0.9. A significant difference in testosterone level was observed between those with hirsutism and those without hirsutism. No significant difference was recorded in prolactin levels between women with and without hirsutism. FBS in women with and without hirsutism were 93.1 ± 17.3 and 94.4 ± 18.3, respectively. Depression in those with and without hirsutism was 58 (70.7%) and 12 (57.1%), respectively. Anxiety was observed in 56 (68.3%) of those with hirsutism and 18 (78.3%) of those without hirsutism.
