Abstract : A new pandemic afflicts the entire world. The highly contagious severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) virus originated in Wuhan, China in late 2019 and rapidly spread across the entire globe. Patients with coronavirus disease-19 (COVID-19) disease present with a wide array of symptoms, ranging from mild complaints such as low oxygen levels to life threatening pulmonary and cardiac complications. New therapeutic interventions to treat COVID-19 symptoms include hyperbaric oxygen therapy (HBOT). HBOT involves breathing under 100% oxygen pressure to increase plasma and tissue oxygen levels. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of HBOT on oxygen saturation of COVID-19 patients. This study uses a descriptive research design with literature review from at least 10 national journal articles indexed by SINTA and international journals indexed by Scimago with 2016 to 2021 limitations. Based on 11 international journals indexed by Scimago, HBOT allows a significant increase of the oxygen saturation of COVID-19 patients. HBOT has the effect of correcting tissue hypoxia, chronic hypoxemia and helps in other symptoms of COVID-19 resulting in improvement in COVID-19 patients who are given HBOT.
